Summary: | The core of Russia’s reindeer breeding by the level of preservation of traditions, by the number of nomadic families and by the total number of livestock of grazing animals is the Yamalo-Nenets autonomous district. But here acute the problem of lack of grazing resources in the tundra zone, there is a significant excess of the actual deer population estimated above. The result of many years overload of pastures is mass degeneration and death of young stock and adult animals. This problem is reaching the scale of environmental disaster. This article provides an analysis of the main causes of unregulated growth of a livestock of deer in farms, a comparison of grazing characteristics of the two biological forms of reindeer: domestic and wild. The necessity of constant integrated monitoring of nomadic reindeer herding. It offers innovative measures to stabilize the deer population on the Yamal and the creation of private reindeer herding in the taiga zone. Приведены результаты мониторинга оленеводства на Ямале.
