Summary:This study of settlement, nursery and growing techniques for Sydney rock oysters, Saccostrea commercialis, and Pacific oysters, Crassostrea gigas, was aimed at developing and evaluating production systems for juvenile oysters (spat). Settlement, retention (spat retained within nursery units from settlement or stocking to harvest), survival and growth of juvenile wild and hatchery produced oysters were assessed in relation to systems design and management at sites in New South Wales (NSVV), Australia.
