Summary:Dr Jeremy Lyle led a five-yearly survey by the University of Tasmanias Institute for Marine and Antarctic Science of Tasmania recreational fishing sector. The survey provides a comprehensive assessment of key trends in catch and participation. Flathead was the most popular recreationally caught fish in Tasmania accounting for 62 per cent of all scalefish. Around 1.6 million flathead were caught with more than 40 per cent released.
