Summary:Documents unearthed last year reveal the fossil fuel industry recognised the link between carbon dioxide emissions from their products and global warming as early as 1980. These secret documents, uncovered by Dutch media outlet De Correspondent , show that energy companies predicted in detail many of the catastrophic climate change effects we are seeing today: sea level rise, ocean acidification, violent storms and the planet heating by as much as 2C by 2060. The reports said such changes would be the greatest in human history, and that their consumers would bear the brunt of them.
