Summary: | This article analyzes 25 Yukaghir lexemes designating various kinship and social terms or relations, with their hypothetical cognates in the Uralic languages. Besides 6 terms, which can represent the ‘nursery’ lexicon, i.e. the ‘elementary’ relationships, the remaining 19 items are appellatives, whose semantic dispersions between Yukaghir and Uralic are fully acceptable on the one hand, but on the other hand, they more or less exclude simple adoption from one language entity into another. |
