What gives special importance to this work is the fact that it is based upon the widest possible scale of sources including the most recent publications. Due to Mikola's meticulous approach the result is a comprehensive survey of the history of Samoyedic phonemes, a new reconstruction of the Proto-Samoyedic sound system and a general view of the morphology of Samoyedic languages. All these make Mikola's work an indispensable and basic opus of Samoyedic philology. |
