Summary:Thyroid cancer is a common malignant disease found in endocrine system, 1% from all malignancy, in Indonesia found around 9 from 10 malignancy. It’s from parenchyma cells and stroma of thyroid gland, classified from histopatology, papillary type 75%, follicular type 10%, Hurtle cell 2-4%, anaplastic type 1-2%, medullary type 5-9%, lymphoma 1-3% and sarcoma <1%. In endemic area, the incidens for folicular and anaplastic thyroid cancers are oftenly common, especially in old adult. While in the area with rich of Iodine (Iceland) papillary types are more common. Age group especially 7-20 years and 40-65 years , women more common than men 3:1. Clinical features are single nodule (70-75%), dyspdoea, choking, dysphagia, change in voice (hoarseness) and palpable neck lymph node. Thyroid cancer incidence influenced by many factors such as, demography, environment, age, family history and radiation. There is no specific clinical feature to diagnose thyroid nodule malignancy and need multimodality test in order not to delay treatment or over treatment.
