| Summary: | The paper applies to the city of Rovaniemi and the morphological and spatial structure of its urban space. As a result of a comparative analysis of chronologically compiled town plans conducted by the Conzenian school of urban morphology, correlated with the written sources about the history of the city and field research, six stages of morphologic-spatial development of Rovaniemi were specified. A number of factors which exerted an influence on the development of the urban space of the town in the course of time have also been identified. |
