Summary:Inuit leaders have developed unique political relations with governments in Canada. They have made considerable progress in achieving their people's aspirations as a result. If the Canadian government accepts significant, well-prepared portions of the Inuit agenda such as the creation of a Nunavut territory in the near future, this would be an historical breakthrough in white-aboriginal relations with positive effects for Canadian unity, Otherwise, twenty years of good progress affecting one-third of Canada's land area could be thrown away.
