LAUDE A field practice simulation was conducted to investigate the possible in vivo cytogenetic effect of warfarin in Rattus rattus mindanensis at varying duration of exposure. Thirty male rats were grouped into six of five rats each, and then were fed orally with 0.025% warfarin. The first group was fed for one day; second, two days consecutively; third, three consecutive days; fourth, two days intermittently; fifth, three days intermittently; and, the sixth was maintained as a control. Results showed that warfarin failed to inhibit mitotic activity, but not meiotic division. Significant differences have been accounted in the production of abnormalities. Generally, rats fed for two days and for three days intermittently, third group and fifth group respectively, which were exposed at longer time, were greatly affected. Considerable number of aberrations were noted. For somatic cells, stickiness; and for meiotic cells, abnormal pairing, multivalents, and also, stickiness were observed.
