Summary:National audience Living in isolated territories where there are no land routes, the Inuit and Cree of Northern Canada have faced major adaptation challenges in recent decades, particularly in terms of access to energy. Being off the electrical grid, the communities are extremely dependent on petroleum products for their electrical and thermal production, respectively from diesel generators and fuel oil combustion. The implementation of renewable energy production means constitutes an alternative in order to produce "clean" energy thus reducing the use of fossil fuels. However, before considering the use of these energy sources, which are costly in terms of investment, an energy optimization phase is necessary to reduce consumption. The SIQINIQ5 project is led by the LaTEP laboratory in Pau, in collaboration with the ÉTS in Montreal and the INRS in Quebec. It is a continuation of the SEQINEQ, SEQINEQ', SEQINEQ2, SIQINIQ3 and SIQINIQ4* projects, whose particularly important perspectives concerning greenhouse farming have led to a focus on this subject. An innovative thermal storage system was designed and built in one of the community greenhouses in Kuujjuaq in the fall of 2018 and was commissioned in the summer of 2019. After a brief summary of the steps that allowed us to set up this device we will focus on 1) the performance of the system and 2) the perspectives of evolutions. Furthermore, we will present how the SIQINIQ team is included in the ENERGON energy transition project. (*) the name of the project has evolved from SEQINEQ to SIQINIQ, following discussions with Inuit and in order to respect the Inuktitut language.
