Description
Summary:01110[1][letterhead] Treasury Department, October 25, 1883.Prof. John Muir, Martinez, Cal.My dear Sir:I mail to you to-day a copy of the publication entitled “Notes and Observations – Arctic Cruise of the Revenue [illegible] ‘Corwin’ – 1881”, in which is found your interesting and valuable contribution under the head of “Botanical Notes”, Had the [illegible] offered, I[Page 2][2]should have been glad to correspond with you, and obtain any illustrations or suggestions for illustrations that you might have offered, but, as you will see by the introductory letters accompanying this little work, this Office had no opportunity after Congress called for the Report, to obtain any illustrations. If you will furnish me with a list of persons to whom you would like some copies of the Report sent, I will obtain[Page 3][3]them from the Government Printing Office, and take pleasure in sending them under government frank; or, if you prefer, I will send them to you that you may mail them. Please indicate how many copies you would like for yourself, and I will try and supply you. The Treasury Department is to be allowed a limited number outside of the numbers supplied to Congress.Very truly, yours, [C. W.?] Clark01110
