Wind blowing on shore of Wrangel Land and therefore did not consider it safe to attempt approaching it too nearly. Are now within 20 miles of Herald Island, sailing and drifting to the S.E. Our chances of making another landing on Wrangel Land seem unpromising now. Our ice-breaker damaged and we were compelled to cut it away, hoping may not need it again this year.
