Summary:24 hi yu kunitux wa-wa Boston. Saw 3 huge bergs set free. Spray rose about 200 feet. Lovely reflection of ice wall in calm water as in [Hills] painting. intensely fine in pale blues & whites grand chocolate brown of mtns [mountains]. [Sketch of reflection] Mirages common. icebergs scattered made into wall like the front of gl [glacier]. June 29th Rain about every other minute all day but comparatively gentle Am not doing much watching icewall berglife etc. A small flycatcher solitary hen today & yesterday busy feeding about camp Saw sandpiper on shore Loons ducks gulls a few of each & crows Saw bald eagle the other day. These all the birds I have noticed thus far The gl [glacier] [thundering] gloriously. June 30. Clearing clouds & sunshine. Saw 3 large bergs born in less than a minute. 1st there is usually a preliminary thundering of small masses as the large mass begins to fall then the grand crash & boom & reverberations. Oftentimes 3 or 4 heavy main throbbing thuds & booming explosions as the mass falls in several pieces & also https://scholarlycommons.pacific.edu/jmj-all/2861/thumbnail.jpg
