(Dr Rich) Neoloma Drummondii Rocky Mtn [Neoloma] Floridiana say & ord Brought from E [Houda] in 1818 by [Ord] but not described until 1825 Chickaree or Hudson Bay Sq [squirrel] far the most industrious & lays up the greatest quantity of food Greek Skiouros from skia a shade & [oura] a tail shade tail sit on branch with tail depressed dances to his own music whilst barking it seats itself for a few moments in a branch of a tree elevates its tail over its back [tunnels] the head & [binding] the point backward [continues] to jerk its body & [elevate] & depress the tail at the repetition of each successive note There are about sixty or 70 [species] of this genus known to authors about 20 will [ ] [spurs] [exist] in N Am Sciurus Carolinensis (S gray sq [squirrel]) - gmel [Sciurus] migratorius, N gray [Sciurus] Richardsonii back from R Mtns [Rocky Mountains] called red sq [squirrel] by Lewis & Clark said to be smaller than either Doug [Douglas] or Chick [Chickaree] - I doubt the species Tamias Greek - a keeper of stores from [ref] to cheek-[ ] one species in Northern portions of Eastern continent, 4 in N & one in S Am Chipping sq [squirrel] Hackee Tamias Lysterii Ray.
