Description
Summary:[3]Antarctic regions which he made some fifty years ago when he was with the [illegible]rated Ross Expedition as naturalist. I saw [Kerr?] also & the Tower & Wordsworth's Lake region. In Edinburgh I found the old publisher David Douglas who was a father to me & just as good as possible. Saw Scotland pretty well & Ireland slightly, went from Doublin to Killamey From your house I visited my mother in Portage & my old professors in Madison then returned to Chicago & home. I wonder if you are coming to California this winter - you may be here now. Do come & see us Remember me to Mrs Sellers. Thanks to all, & best wishes. Ever your friend John Muir[1]Martinez, California,December 31, 1893.My dear Mr Sellers,Looking back over the years blessings, one of the best & handsomest in sight is my long pleasant eventful visit to you in your beautiful happy home. That I did not you may in great part thank Frank who used me so well & showed me so much of the fair. I had a grand fertile time among the fiords & valleys of Norway Got some fine telling facts there bearing on my studies., Also in Switzerland through which I bored pretty thouroughly though I made no special studies In London I spent about two weeks - an awful wilderness. But fortunately I found my old friend Hooker with whom I had a delightful & instructive time. He took me through the Abbey Parliment House Museum etc & then out to his home in Sunningdale 25 miles from London where he showed me his portfolio of sketches he made in the little known
