Description
Summary:Martinez, Cal. Jan 2d, 1882.My dear Asa GrayI cordially wish you a happy new year, & rejoice with your many friends that you are once more in your own country & still strong to work & enjoy. Parry was here a short time ago & we greatly enjoyed his visit. He reported Dr Engelman unwell & likely to seek California next season for health as well[Page 2]I shall fondly hope that you also will come again to this side the big botanic garden for another ramble among the trees & to delight your friends. The [Bidwells?] among others would be beside themselves with joy should you bless them with another visit Mr & Mrs Parry were up at their big kingdom ranch & they were here too among the vines & so was General Bidwell He is erect & massive as ever. I have not yet heard from those Arctic plants & sent you by express two months ago. Have you received them?Hoping you will long be spared to bless the people & the plants I am ever your admiring friend John Muir.
