Visits from 3 captains. Aug 18. Completed letters, one to wife, 2 to Bulletin, one of them on Herald Island dated July 31 and Aug. 16th. Left Pt. Barrow at 1:30 P.M. for Cape Lisburne to coal if possible. 13 vessels about Pt. Barrow. Aug 19th. Cloudy, with some rain. Temp. 45o. Were off Pt. Beltcher this morning, but could not land on account of heavy smell. Saw a few walruses. Aug 20. Heavy Sea. Head wind until we passed Cape Lisburne.
