| Summary: | The article concerns the revitalization of the Old Harbor in Reykjavik, an area which is extremely important for all citizens of Iceland, for strategic reasons, but also taking into consideration protection of national heritage. The aim of the case study is to present therevitalization process which was carried out in the Old Harbor – from apostindustrial space to avibrant area for tourists and citizens, with mixed-use of the space. The article is based onanalysis of existing data, interviews with people involved in the revitalization process anddirect observation conducted from May to July 2014 in Reykjavik. The article attempts to prove that the revitalization process of the Old Harbor in Reykjavik can be concerned as good example of activities taken by private investors to revitalize apostindustrial space, and connecting new functions with protection of examples indicating historical functions of the area. Artykuł dotyczy rewitalizacji Starego Portu wReykjaviku, obszaru niezwykle ważnego dla mieszkańców Islandii, zarówno ze względów strategicznych, jak izuwagi naochronę dziedzictwa kulturowego kraju. Celem mniejszego artykułu, ocharakterze studium przypadku, jest opis przebiegu procesu rewitalizacji – przekształcenia obszaru od przestrzeni poprzemysłowej, do tętniącego życiem miejsca oróżnorodnych funkcjach, skierowanych zarówno do mieszkańców, jak ido turystów. Artykuł opiera się na analizie danych zastanych, wywiadach zwłaścicielami terenu iekspertami zdziałających wporcie instytucji, oraz obserwacji bezpośredniej prowadzonej wReykjaviku od maja do lipca 2014r. Wtekście starano się dowieść, że rewitalizacja Starego Portu wReykjaviku może być uznana za dobry przykład działań, podejmowanych przez prywatnych inwestorów, dotyczących ożywienia obszaru postindustrialnego oraz połączenia nowych funkcji zzachowaniem przykładów świadczących odawnym przeznaczeniu terenu. |
