Summary:The 111th Congress is continuing to consider ocean policy and management recommendations of the two commission reports and the President's response. Comprehensive changes in ocean governance and administrative structure are proposed in the Oceans Conservation, Education, and National Strategy for the 21st Century Act (H.R. 21). Bills addressing specific topics such as coral reefs, marine sanctuaries, ocean acidification, ocean exploration and research, and shark conservation also have been introduced.
