Error-free dispersion-uncompensated transmission at 20 Gb/s over SSMF using a hybrid III-V/SOI DML with MRR filtering

International audience Error-free 20-Gb/s directly-modulated transmission is achieved by enhancing the dispersion tolerance of a III-V/SOI DFB laser with a silicon micro-ring resonator. Low (~0.4 dB) penalty compared to back-to-back without ring is demonstrated after 5-km SSMF.
