Summary:In November of 1988, Patricia Goedicke delivered a lecture at the University of Kansas in Lawrence about the function of sound and silence in poetry. These are the handwritten notes for that lecture, which emerged from an imitation workshop she taught centering on the works of Emily Dickinson and Denise Levertov. Goedicke delivered a very similar lecture in 1982 at The Midnight Sun Writers' Conference in Fairbanks, Alaska.
