Description
Summary:The Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia led the government to establish a Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) policy. Restrictions in the education sector by the Ministry of Education and Culture, namely Distance Learning (PJJ). SD Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah 02 Purwokerto is an inclusive school with special needs students also implemented PJJ using an online meeting platform that connects teachers and students for teaching and learning activities. The interpersonal approach taken by teachers to students with special needs is still applied to help the development of student learning while at home. The study aims to find out how interpersonal communication conducted by teachers uses a pragmatic approach to students with special needs using computer mediation and their barriers. This study uses the pragmatic approach theory with five qualities of effectiveness by Spitzberg et al. that is confidence, unity, expression power, interaction management, and orientation to others. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Subject determination using purposive sampling technique, this research got eight homeroom teachers as a primary research data source or data subject. Techniques of collecting data through interviews and documentation. The results of interpersonal communication research conducted by teachers to students with special needs through Computer-Mediated Communication must be supported by online meeting-based applications to make it easier for teachers to take a pragmatic approach to students with special needs. Barriers to mediated communication during teaching students with special needs, physically are delayed messages, psychologically is parental openness, and student specificity, and then semantically is the difficulty of ABK students understanding learning materials. Barriers and disruptions in mediated communication that happen during distance learning do not limit teacher communication with students with special needs interpersonally.
