Description
Summary:Facultad de Ingeniería Química. Licenciatura como Ingeniero Químico Water is essential for the survival of all known forms of life. It covers 78% of the surface of the crust. It is localized mainly in the oceans where 96.5% of the total water is concentrated; glaciers and ice caps have 1.74%; underground deposits, permafrost and continental glaciers account for 1.72% and the remaining 0.04% is distributed in descending order between lakes, soil moisture, atmosphere, reservoirs and rivers. It is estimated that approximately 70% of freshwater is used for agriculture. The water industry average of 20% of global consumption is carried, being used in various tasks as solvent transport and a variety of chemicals. Domestic consumption absorbs the remaining 10%. Worldwide the problem number one most important for all countries is to have clean and cheap water. Mexico, country rich in natural resources, obtains water consumed by the population from sources such as rivers, streams and underground aquifers. These aquifers are replenished naturally in rainy season. However, the rainy season has an average duration of four months, which favors a low uptake. Added to this, the total water collected by rain, approximately 70% evaporates. The disproportion between the amount of water collected from runoff and territorial extensions and jointly comprising the short rainy season makes the availability of water is declining. Under this scenario Mexico is currently facing serious problems of availability, waste and water pollution. Part of this problem is faced with the construction of water infrastructure which allows supply water to the different sectors of the population: the agricultural, industrial, household and services for power generation, among info:eu-repo/semantics/others.
