Description
Podatke smo statistično obdelali in rezultate ponazorili v obliki grafov. Theoretical background: Children are almost from birth in constant danger of accident. Scratches, cuts, burns are constant companions of growing up and almost no day passes without minor or major injuries. Even illness and emergencies are not rarely. Proper action of parents in such cases is important. First aid measures are implemented with the aim of preserving life suddenly sick or injured, prevention of deterioration and promote recovery. Parents should be aware of this and have enough knowledge to offer their children an appropriate help in emergency situations. Research metodology: The purpose of the study is to describe a emergency condition of the preschool child, and describe the first aid of parents in the case of emergencies and how to ensure safety to avoid injury to the child. Data for the study were obtained from surveys in which we interviewed 41 parents of children from kindergarten Radlje ob Dravi. The survey contained 29 questions closed and semi-open type. The data were statistically analyzed and the results illustrated in the form of graphs. Results: The study showed that the awareness of parents about the provision of first aid to a preschool child is too small. Most lack of knowledge is in basic child resuscitation procedures. Parents also rated their skills and knowledge poor and they all want to gain more knowledge about this topic. The study also showed that are well caring for their children, s safety at home and they are satisfied with how they are insuring the safety of their children in kindergarden. Conclusion: We find that the knowledge of parents about the provision of first aid to a preschool child and the child's basic resuscitation procedures are too small. Therefore, we believe that it needs to be extra educations, courses, etc. For effective first aid is necessary knowledge, but it has to be renewed, because in the first aid we have to act quickly, correctly and in correct order. It would be also useful to have lectures for parents on this topic, in kindergartens and schools. Maybe this would be enough to be closer to satisfactory results and knowledge.
