Description
Summary:National audience Campaign 2020: nuna and city / nuna and riversThe work undertaken in the NUNA project aims at shedding light through Inuit images and words on what nuna (territory in Inuktitut) means to indigenous youth today. The video workshops are mobilized on the one hand to initiate a reflection on nuna by Inuit adolescents, future governors, and on the other hand to promote their narrative and iconographic sovereignty. This mission to the Jaanimmarik School in Kuujjuaq (capital of Nunavik) aimed to complete the reflections carried out around nuna for young Inuit, by studying a possible urban influence. This project could not initially take place in February 2020 due to dramatic events mourning the school when we arrived on the field (suicide and murder). It was then postponed to November 2020 and then postponed again because of the Covid crisis. The February 2020 field campaign was nevertheless carried out, with a withdrawal to the community of Umiujaq (10 days). It was devoted to complementary research to the Nuna project and a contribution to the U-SCAN project: the perceptions and practices of rivers in Inuit cosmology in the surroundings of Umiujaq (interviews with a few actors, field survey, images, bibliography), including a section on the meaning and nature of contaminants.
