Description
Summary:ABSTRACT Administratively, the research location is located in Mallasoro, Bangkala District, Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The research location is included in the Tonasa Formation, which is a carbonate sedimentary rock that has a very wide distribution. This study uses microfossils as the object of research. This study aims to produce a biostratigraphic zoning using foraminifera. From this research, it can also be seen the foraminifera and zoning, which is the age parameter of the Tonasa Formation. The research method used was measuring the section and sample preparation to analyze the biodatum based on the early and late appearance of planktonic foraminifera. The study area was composed of carbonate claystones. The results of the analysis of planktonic foraminifera from 10 sampling points obtained zoning, namely the Globigerina collactea FINLAY–Globigerpsis boweri BOLLI (P10–P11) zone and Globigeropsis boweri BOLLI–Globerina ouchitaensis HOWE and WALLACE (P12-P13). The result of determining the age of the Tonasa Formation using planktonic foraminifera is the Middle Eocene. Keywords : Planktonic Foraminifera, Biostratigraphy, Tonasa Formation, Measuring Section.
