| Summary: | Doctor María Elena Ibarra Martin was born on December 27, 1932, in Santiago de Cuba. In 1959 she was a researcher at the Cuban Institute of Cartography and Cadastre. From 1960 to 1963 Head of the Paleontology and Petrography Laboratory of the Cuban Petroleum Institute and from 1963 to 1968 Head of the Paleontology and Petrography Laboratory, Cuban Institute of Mineral Resources, where he carried out micropaleontological investigations on planktonic foraminifera to establish stratigraphic correlations in oil drilling in Cuba. La Doctora María Elena Ibarra Martin nació el 27 de diciembre de 1932, en Santiago de Cuba. En 1959 fue investigadora del Instituto Cubano de Cartografía y Catastro. De 1960 a 1963 Jefe del Laboratorio de Paleontología y Petrografía del Instituto Cubano del Petróleo y del 1963 a 1968 Jefe del Laboratorio de Paleontología y Petrografía, Instituto Cubano de Recursos Minerales, donde realizó investigaciones micropaleontológicas sobre foraminíferos planctónicos para establecer correlaciones estratigráficas en las perforaciones petroleras en Cuba.
