Summary:The revision of the occurrences of Cetorhinus maximus (Gunnerus, 1765) on the Brazilian coast is presented, based on 10 specimens recorded in the south and southeastern regions between 1970 and 1991. The group is composed of 6 males, 3 females and 1 of undertermined sex, measuring 290 to 620 cm TL. This paper showing 4 new records to Santa Catarina State, new biometric data, and the first analysis of the stomach contents for this species in the southwestern Atlantic, with the presence of peneids. A revisão das ocorrências de Cetorhinus maximus (Gunnerus, 1765) na costa brasileira é apresentada através de 10 espécimes registrados nas regiões sul e sudeste entre 1970 e 1991, sendo 6 machos, 3 fêmeas e 1 com o sexo indeterminado, medido entre 290 e 620 cm CT. São incluídos 4 novos registros no Estado de Santa Catarina, novos dados biométricos e a primeira análise do conteúdo estomacal da espécie no sudoeste do Atlântico, com a presença de peneídeos e misidáceos.
