Hemoparasites were detected by blood smear with Giemsa stain and the diagnostic of Leishmania sp. was obtained by ELISA and RIFI. The most prevalent ectoparasite wasCtenocephalides felis felis(83.3%) followedRhipicephalus sanguineus(33.3%). Immature ticks,Tunga penetrans,Trichodectes canisandDermatobia hominis, were also found in lower prevalence. We registered morphological variations of chaetotaxy, in genusCtenocephalidesin 12.5% of the hosts. Onedog was positive toBabesia canisand two dogs were reagent forLeishmaniasp. Teve-se como principal objetivo descrever a comunidade de ectoparasitos e hemoparasitos de cães residentes no entorno da Serra de São José, Minas Gerais. O levantamento ocorreu em 24 hospedeiros onde foram coletadas amostras de sangue e ectoparasitos. Os ectoparasitos foram identificadospor esterioscopia e/ou microscopia fotônica. Hemoparasitos foram examinados por esfregaço sanguíneo e o diagnóstico deLeishmaniasp. foi realizado por método de ELISA e RIFI. A espécie de ectoparasito mais prevalente foiCtenocephalides felis felis(83,3%) seguida porRhipicephalus sanguineus(33,3%). Ixodídeos imaturos;Tunga penetrans;Trichodectes caniseDermatobia hoministambém foram registrados em menor prevalência. Registra-se variação na quetotaxia no gêneroCtenocephalides(12,5%). Um cão foi diagnosticado positivo paraBabesia canise dois reagentes paraLeishmaniasp.
