Summary: | The main objective in this paper was to describe the community of ectoparasites and hemoparasites in dogs in the vicinity of Serra de São José, Minas Gerais State. The survey involved 24hosts in which samples of blood and ectoparasites were collected. The ectoparaistes were identified bystereoscopy or photonic microscopy. Hemoparasites were detected by blood smear with Giemsa stain and the diagnostic of Leishmania sp. was obtained by ELISA and RIFI. The most prevalent ectoparasite wasCtenocephalides felis felis(83.3%) followedRhipicephalus sanguineus(33.3%). Immature ticks,Tunga penetrans,Trichodectes canisandDermatobia hominis, were also found in lower prevalence. We registered morphological variations of chaetotaxy, in genusCtenocephalidesin 12.5% of the hosts. Onedog was positive toBabesia canisand two dogs were reagent forLeishmaniasp. |
