Summary:This image uses the NCEP Global Forecast System Reanalysis of geopotential height at 850 millibars from December 15-20, 2010 to show areas of high and low pressure. This data allows meteorologists to see areas of high and low pressure. In this image, areas of high pressure are colored orange, while lower pressures fade from yellow to white. The high pressure that is located over Greenland is forcing cold Arctic air down to areas of lower pressure.
