| Summary: | La especie canina (Canis lupus familiaris) fue la primera especie domesticada por el hombre y, por tanto, la que mejor ha sido moldeada por él. A lo largo de los siglos, los perros fueron seleccionados artificialmente mediante una reproducción intensiva, lo que ha dado lugar a una importante variabilidad en cuanto a su morfología, su comportamiento y sus aptitudes, siendo la especie más amplia dentro de todos los mamíferos. Así, se han creado más de 350 razas en los últimos 130 años, en un proceso muy rápido e intenso, lo que ha producido la homogeneización dentro de las razas. Sin embargo, a lo largo de la historia han sido muchas teorías sobre dónde se originó el perro y cómo ha evolucionado hasta llegar al animal actual. En esta revisión bibliográfica se aportarán pruebas científicas basadas en estudios arqueológicos, filogénicos y genéticos que muestran la evolución del perro a partir del lobo gris (Canis lupus lupus) y como fue domesticado hace aproximadamente 15.000 años, aunque el lugar exacto y la población originaria siguen siendo motivo de estudio. The canine species (Canis lupus familiaris) is the first species domesticated by human and, therefore, the one that has been best shaped by him. Throughout the centuries, dogs were artificially selected through intensive reproduction, which has led to significant variability in terms of their morphology, behaviour and abilities, being the most extensive species within all mammals. Thus, more than 350 races have been created in the last 130 years, which was very fast and intense and has induced homogenization within races. However, throughout history there have been many theories about where it originated and how it has evolved to reach the current animal. This bibliographic review will provide scientific evidence based on archaeological, phylogeny and genetic studies that show the evolution of the dog from the grey wolf (Canis lupus lupus) and how it was domesticated approximately 15.000 years ago, although the exact place and the original population remain being reason to study.
