Summary:Reports experience in expeditionary transport in 1962-63. The 650 lb Polaris K-95 Ranger motor toboggans are described, and their maintenance, operation, engine starting, performance, fuel consumption and capabilities outlined. Various kinds of sleds were used, though mostly the 90 lb Nansen-type Grasshopper; sled performance, accessories, connections, and braking are noted. Methods of steering and rigging the sled trains are also discussed. The equipment proved efficient, inexpensive, relatively safe and comfortable to operate, with few mechanical troubles.
