Summary: | This article proposes a study of two different reports composed about the shipwreck of two Spanish galleys in 1578, while they were trying to escape from a flotilla of corsairs: the letters of Viceroy Marco Antonio Colonna to King Philip II and that of the Duke of Terranova, who was a passenger on board one of the ships. On the bases of these documents, the article proposes a reflection on the stylistic and rhetoric features of the administrative Spanish language in last quarter of the XVI century, a crucial turning point in the history of the Spanish language. |
