Summary:guitars; fiddles Collected by James S. A. Collins. Daniel I. Hall, and Thommie D. Herndon For M. C. Parler Played by Mr. Raymond Martin, Mr. Dean Ramsey, and Mrs. Goldie Martin Prairie Grove, Arkansas November 13, 1960 Reel 371, Item 2 Arkansas Traveler ( A Fiddle Tone)42 Tom: Like to say a little bit here, uh Dean, I'd, what's the brand of your guitar there ? Dean: Well, it's a Harmony. Tom: Harmony, what's the brand of your fiddle, Ray? Raymond: Stradivarius model. Tom: I see. What have you got, Goldie, what's the brand of your guitar? Goldie: Regal. Tom: So wo have a Stradivarius model violin and a Regal guitar, and what's this, a Harmony? Dan: What's your fiddle there? Raymond: It's the same as this one. Dan: Same one. Tom: Oh yeh, I didn't see that one. Jim: Raymond, did you say an alternate name for that Arkansas Traveler was Fort Smith? Raymond: No, that's Arkansas Traveler. Tom: Oh, really there's another song by the name of Fort Smith; we'll get that. Dan: Where did you pick up most of these, just around here, hearing other people playing or what? Raymond: Yeh, I used to be able to—can't do it now. I might do it if you can play a piece and I can play it after you. I used to be able to do that. I can't say I could do it now, but I usta could do it.Dean: Just about could play all night and not play the same piece twice. Dan: That's quite remarkable. I don't think I could quite do that, Tom: Jim, you want to introduce this? Jim: This next piece, you said was gonna be the Cackling Hen? Raymond: Cackling Hen.
