Summary: | Clinical care in companion animals is essential to guarantee the health of both the animals and the people around them. Activities of clinical management of canine and feline patients were carried out, which were carried out based on the knowledge obtained in the different levels of academic training of the Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics degree. This covers care for owners and patients who require veterinary services such as: Reception of patients: Filling of digital formats: clinical history, subsequent visits, results, diagnoses, treatments and indications. Assistant in consultations: Taking physiological constants, elaboration of digital records, informing owners, diagnoses and treatments determined by the head veterinarians. Assessment of pre and post surgical health status. Collection of various samples for laboratory: Collection of blood samples, cytology, swabs, skin scrapings, among others. Filling out the formats for sending samples, correct conservation of samples until their transport. Laboratory sample processing: Coproparasitological techniques (direct, flotation and staining, urinalysis, blood smears (direct and staining), PAF cytology and skin scrapings. They are observed under a microscope and the different components present in each study are identified (eg cells, parasites, fibers, crystals, etc.); the characteristics of these components are determined and recorded for later interpretation. Preventive medicine: Application of immunization protocols, vaccines and dewormers. Provide information on the advantages of timely sterilization, dental prophylaxis and routine studies. Assistant in surgery: Assistant as a 2nd or circulating surgeon in surgical interventions (sterilizations, removal of masses, orthopedics, ophthalmological surgeries, among others).
