During a bitter labour dispute, a bomb was place in the Giant Mine. The names of the murder victims are inscribed on the plaque: Chris Neill, Joe Pandev, Norm Hourie, David Vodnoski, Shane Riggs, Vern Fullowka, Robert Rowsell, Malcolm Sawler, and Arnold Russell, Striking worker, Roger Warren was found guilty of the murders and served 18 years in jail.
