| Summary: | This report was prepared by Institute personnel from an incomplete manuscript left by the author when he terminated his employment at the University of Alaska in 1967. The Institute feels the report fairly describes the work reported by Dr. Haring, since no conceptual changes were made in the content. We feel it to be unfortunate that Dr. Haring refused to cooperate fully with the final phases of this project. The report is dated as published, but some worthwhile information is included. However, because of the Principal Investigator's lack of cooperation, the Institute is obliged to mention that the contents do not necessarily signify the organization's views or approval, and that the report is published as a means of satisfying contractural requirements. Manufacturing and domestic uses of water are very important to local communities throughout Alaska, although manufacturing typically represents relatively high levels of consumption in terms of population use equivalents. This study is concerned principally with the present water use practices and associated problems in the private sector of the North Star Borough, Alaska.
