Description
Summary:The study's objective was the evaluation of natural apitoxin as an immunomodulator and support therapy in the treatment of demodectic scabies in domestic dogs, using a hemogram to measure hematological values (Red blood cells - White blood cells). A blood sample was initially taken, then 15 and 21 days after treatment. Fifteen medium adult canines of different age, race, and sex were treated, which were distributed into three groups depending on the skin alterations; five patients were taken as control with the conventional treatment three baths with 1% chlorhexidine-based shampoo, treatment T1 consisted of direct injection or stinging of bees every 24 hours for three times and baths with 1% chlorhexidine-based shampoo every four days, in treatment T2, direct infusion of apitoxin every 48 hours for three applications and baths with 1% chlorhexidine-based shampoo every four days, to evaluate the effect of apitoxin as an immunomodulator, laboratory tests were carried out using a hemogram to determine the values present in the blood cells using quantitative analysis, the data were studied to establish whether there is variability in the results of the different treatments. The results of this research were favorable, showing that apitoxin has an immunomodulatory effect, the blood parameters had significant differences with the reference values, cited; most with a broader range, the bites every 24 hours in treatment 1 had both physical and numerical changes, showing 60% of patients negative to Demodex, determining the best results in treatment 2, by direct sting every 48 hours having the highest immunological response 15 days after starting treatment and then at 21 days, maintaining a range with no decrease, showing 80% of negative cases for demodectic scabies, verified by skin scrapings. El objetivo de estudio fue la evaluación de apitoxina natural como inmunomodulador y terapia de apoyo en el tratamiento de sarna demodécica en perros domésticos, mediante un hemograma para medir los valores hematológicos ...
