Description
Summary:This research project had developed to determine the gastrointestinal parasites prevalence of canines (Canis lupus familiaris) in "Laigua Centro" neighborhood, "San Buenaventura" Parish. For that reason, it had made the corresponding copro parasite analysis of 100 canine fecal samples, using Shearer Sugar Flotation Method. Therefore, this procedure had made at the University laboratory with its respective instrument. Likewise, it had made taken hold of samples with descriptive research because it had taken some characteristics such as sex, age, race, and parasitic association, to find its relationship with the gastrointestinal parasites’ prevalence. Results were obtained, were a prevalence of about 78% of gastrointestinal parasites. Besides, concerning sex, a prevalence of around 53.85% of males and 46.15 of females. Also, the "Toxocara Canis" is the most frequent in those results. In addition, concerning age, canines around 1 to 5 years, show "Ancylostoma canimun" which is the most frequent with 34.61%. On another hand, in relation to the association, it had presented mono-parasitized canines with more frequency to "Toxocara Canis" such as the most relevant. In conclusion, the gastrointestinal parasites prevalence in canines at "Laigua Centro" neighborhood, is high because there are more than half of the cases with around 78%.
