Summary: | INTRODUCTION: Since 1989, the midwife Statutes evolves dramatically. Training programme for midwives entered the DML (Licence – Maitrise – Doctorat) system allowing the profession to reach a new era of research. However this change also implies the acquisition of university degrees and formation. A decree published on December 23 2014, in the Journal Officiel concerns the statute of hospitable midwives. The objective of this study was to analyze the perception of the midwives of this decree. Methodology: In an observational, descriptive and transversal study, we asked different cohorts of midwives : the coordinating midwives of Lorraine/Champagne Adrenne, the teachers of France, the hospitable midwives of Lorraine and midwife students of Nancy and Metz on their perception of this decree,.173 questionnaires were then exploited. Results: Only 64 people were able to cite the decree guidelines. The average of the decree satisfaction was 3.7 / 10. Coordinators and teachers midwives and midwives who have acquired an additional diploma were the least satisfied with the decree. Midwives do not seem to have unanimously recognized the importance of the acquisition of academic degrees and to express a real interest in research. 42% of midwife teachers feel that they will be able to teach without any additional diploma and 1/3 of this subpopulation think that their number of years in the profession is enough to allow them to teach despite the decree of 17 May 2016 which requires a university degree. Research is recognized unanimously "important" for the midwives. Discussion: This study on a topical subject allows to have a backward image on the opinion of the midwives with regard to the new directives brought by the decree. Overall professionals are aware of the decree but just a few of them knows the guidelines. Globally, midwives are not satisfied with the decree.
