MARSIS Subsurface Sounding Observations of the South Polar Region of Mars

International audience The MARSIS radar sounder on Mars Express completed a comprehensive mapping campaign of the south polar region. The radar signal typically penetrates to the base of the layered deposits. Terrain outside of the classic layered deposits also exhibits layering in the radar data.
