Summary:This article focuses on the texts by Davis (2005) and Ujvari (2004), which foresaw the current pandemic through the analysis of epidemics that have occurred throughout history. The title of the article refers to the book “The monster at our door: the global threat of avian flu”, as Davis (2005) warning about the pandemic potential of the influenza virus ended up becoming a real problem in 2020, through the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, which enters our homes, infecting millions of people and claiming hundreds of thousands of lives. In this context, the objective of the text is to show how the Covid-19 pandemic comes from the ways in which the dynamics of human populations are related to the environmental issue, with a focus on the development of the pandemic in the Brazilian context. Note that the exploratory logic of nature is reproduced without limits, generating drastic consequences not only for biodiversity and ecosystems, but also for humanity. This predatory logic generates forms of expropriation that end up exposing the high concentration of inequality. Este artículo se centra en los textos de Davis (2005) y Ujvari (2004), que previeron la pandemia actual a través del análisis de epidemias ocurridas a lo largo de la historia. El título se refiere al libro El monstruo llama a nuestra puerta: la amenaza global de la gripe aviar, porque la advertencia de Davis (2005) sobre el potencial pandémico del virus de la gripe, el cual, terminó convirtiéndose en un problema real en 2020, a través de la pandemia covid-19, causada por el virus SARS-CoV2, que entra en nuestros hogares, infectando a millones de personas y llevando cientos de miles de vidas. En este contexto, el objetivo del texto es resaltar cómo la pandemia de covid-19 proviene de las interacciones entre las poblaciones humanas y los problemas ambientales, con un enfoque en la evolución de la pandemia en el contexto brasileño.
