Summary:The several recorded foraminiferal assemblages from the South American and African continents and those of the South Atlantic Ocean are summarized in the present work. Paleocene planktonic and benthonic assemblages have a wide Atlantic areal distribution. During Eocene times foraminiferal assemblages show more restricted latitudinal differentiations than in the Paleocene and, at latitudes higher than 30° S Australasian influences are evident, which persist throughout the Oligocene. © 1977, Elsevier Science & Technology.
