Description
Summary:The 1996 Food Expenditure Survey is the first survey since 1992. The 1996 survey was designed to provide information for persons living in private households in the ten provinces of Canada as well as Whitehorse and Yellowknife. Users should note that data on all expenditures for 1996 were collected in a separate survey - the Family Expenditure Survey (FAMEX). The 1996 Food Survey had the same coverage as the 1996 Family Expenditure Survey. A public-use microdata file has also been produced from the 1996 Family Expenditure Survey. In order to maintain respondent confidentiality, records from Whitehorse and Yellowknife have been excluded from both 1996 files.
