Description
Summary:This work presents the preliminary results of the analysis of the inorganic carbon properties of the Ross Sea. This study was performed during the austral summer 2003 (January-February) when we measured the water column distribution of Total CO2 (TCO2) and Total Alkalinity (TA). The first results of TA and TCO2 observations are here discussed at the light of the main processes influencing their distribution, namely temperature, salinity and biological activity, and the main water masses of the shelf region were identified by their characteristic content in TCO2. The observations are here presented and discussed.
