Summary:The four Global Commons established by international law, as recognized by the United Nations (n.d.) as “the high seas, the atmosphere, Antarctica, and outer space” (p. 48), are global resources over which no individual state or nation can claim sovereignty or dominion, although they are of supranational interest. For this reason, their governance has been a subject of action on the international agendas of many states. Despite making significant progress in establishing a stronger global presence, Colombia still faces challenges that require it to include significant actions related to sustainable development, environmental management and protection, and scientific research in its international agenda. This article aims to highlight the importance of Antarctica as a matter of survival for Colombia in the context of international relations. To achieve this, a critical-propositional paradigm will be employed to identify, interpret, analyze, conceive, and understand threats, as well as challenges and opportunities in Colombia’s participation in these global governance models, where Antarctica serves as a point of convergence among them. Los cuatro Global Commons establecidos por el derecho internacional, conocidos según Naciones Unidas (s.f.) como: “la altamar, la atmósfera, la Antártida y el espacio exterior” (p. 48), son los recursos globales sobre los cuales ningún Estado o nación en particular puede exigir soberanía o dominio, aunque sí son de interés supranacional; por esta razón, su gobernanza ha sido objeto de acción en las agendas internacionales de gran parte de los Estados.
