Summary:Two theological works, namely Yaḥyá ibn Abī Bakr al-Ḥanafī's al-Mukhtaṣar fī bayān al-iʻtqād or Asīr-i malāḥidah, an Arabic rendering of the author's own work on doctrine originally composed in Persian, followed by Abū al-Muntahá Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Maghnīsāwī's (d.1592) commentary on the theological treatise of Abū Ḥanīfah (d.767), al-Fiqh al-akbar. Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Library, Isl. Ms. 521 Origin: As appears in colophons on pp.61-62 and pp.116, both texts likely copied by Ibrāhīm ibn ʻAbd Allāh with transcription of opening work completed 15 Shawwāl 1141 [ca. 14 May 1729] and transcription of second work completed 20 Dhū al-Ḥijjah 1140 [ca. 28 July 1728]. (vertical), chain lines spaced 23 mm. apart (horizontal), and watermark with grapes (raisin) under cartouche with "D T" [?] and crown (see p.10, 19, etc.), crisp though sturdy, burnished (some bifolia only lightly others to glossy) another type with 11 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 20-21 mm. apart (horizontal), and watermark with grapes (raisin) under cartouche with "D A" and crown (see p.30, 43, etc.) still another type with 6 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 28-30 mm. apart (horizontal), and three crescents watermark (94 mm. long, perpendicular to chains). Decoration: Keywords and section headings rubricated overlining in red. Script: Naskh compact Turkish hand virtually serifless, with tilt to the left, quite rounded with curvilinear descenders, pointing in strokes rather than distinct dots, some superscripting of final letters of words, freely ligatured partially vocalized. Layout: Written in 15 and 17 lines per page frame-ruled. Collation: i, 2 V(20), IV (28), VI (40), VIII (56), i opening work lacks proper catchwords but last word of final line on the verso of each leaf is usually repeated at the beginning of the first line on the following recto catchwords present in second work pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes inserts and front flyleaf).
