Summary:Possibly a crew member of one of the French Antarctic Commandant Charcot Expedition, with icebergs in the background. Historical note: Fritz Loewe accompanied the French Antarctic Commandant Charcot expeditions and in 1950-51 he wintered in Terre Adélie. There he drew up a detailed mass balance of the Antarctic ice-sheet: his measurements of the intense but shallow layer were described as 'classic'.
